Mazda SUVs – Something for Everyone

There are four SUV options altogether within the Mazda lineup that we want to help you get to know better, and we have all the details you need to know in regard to size, power, and capabilities, to help you choose.
Size and Seating
The Mazda SUV family kicks off with the subcompact Mazda CX-30. It's a two-row SUV with seating for five people and it measures 173 inches long, with a cargo area that holds up to 20.2 cubic feet, as well as 41 inches of front seat legroom and 36 inches of backseat legroom.
Need a little more room, but still want an SUV that's compact and easy to maneuver? Meet the Mazda CX-5, a five-passenger model that comes next in the lineup. It measures 180 inches long, has 30.8 cubic feet of space for cargo, 41 inches of legroom in the front seat, and 39.6 inches of backseat legroom.
Next up in the lineup, the Mazda CX-50 is similar in size to the compact CX-5, but it has a rugged appearance and adventurous attitude. Compared to the CX-5, which has a ground clearance of 7.6 inches, the CX-50 is 8.3 inches off the ground, helping it handle off-road adventures easier. The CX-50 measures a total of 185.8 inches long, has a cargo area with 31.4 cubic feet of space, and has 41.7 inches of legroom in the front, with 39.8 inches of legroom in the rear.
At the top of the collection, the Mazda CX-9 sits as the largest and only three-row SUV of the bunch. It seats either six or seven people, depending on your needs, and it measures 199.4 inches long. The CX-9 has a cargo capacity of 14.3 cubic feet when the third row is in place, but this expands by quite a bit when needed, by folding the second and third rows down. There is 41 inches of legroom in the front seat, and 39.4 inches in the backseat.
Power and Performance
Similar to how these four SUVs have different styles that appeal to different personalities, so too do they have different power levels. Each one comes with multiple outputs from four-cylinder engines, with the choice between traditional or turbocharged powertrains, depending on what you're looking for.
The key to choosing which one suits your needs in terms of power comes down to whether or not you need an SUV that can tow. If you have a small camper or boat you like to take with you on your adventures, one of the larger Mazda SUVs would be the better fit. While the CX-30 isn't rated for towing, the CX-5 can tow up to 2,000 pounds, the CX-50 can manage 2,000 to 3,500 pounds, and the CX-9 comes in with a maximum capacity of 3,500 pounds.
